Based on the hit Paramount Pictures television series, Happy Days, A New Musical reintroduces one of America’s best loved families, the Cunninghams. Howard (Brady Cogswell), Marion (Abbey Litzenberg) and Joanie (Morgan Bailey) are here, too, along with Richie’s girlfriend Lori Beth (McKayla Swank). And, Howard is still a Leopard along with other Leopard members (Rachel Oxender, Reese Cogswell) including high school principal Manny Moon (Branden Turner). This musical is a wonderful way to introduce these colorful characters from our past to a whole new generation of children and parents.
The famed drive-in malt shop and number one hangout, Arnold’s (Evan Whitis), is in danger of demolition. So the gang teams up to save it with a dance contest which includes other high school students (Jessica Echler, Heather McConnaughey, Cady VanDeVoorde, Samantha Hughes-Vassar) and a TV-worthy wrestling match involving the Malachi Brothers (Brandon Geiser and Jalen Dancer).
Even Pinky Tuscadero (Shaylee Oyer), Fonzie’s childhood sweetheart, returns to help and — lo and behold! — they rekindle their old flame to the beautiful harmony throughout the entire show of the Ring Tones (Holly Hernandez, Shea Livensparger, Nicky Myers, and Jaclyn Kinsman).
Happy Days, A New Musical, with amazing music from Oscar-winner Paul Williams (performed by the pit band members of Sharon Deetz, Joe House, and Pasto Paul and Joy Gruetter) and based on a book by the TV series original creator Garry Marshall, creates the perfect trip back memory lane.
Making the entire production flow behind the scenes are Tessa Newsome (student director), Hunter Forry (sound manager), Kole Peterson (stage manager) and other crew members which include Jordan Bailey, Kaylie and Shebraska Brouse, Lucas Brown, Jakub Grodi, Dylan Hutchison, Brittany Keller, Adam Knepper, Zoe Koch, Brittany Laney, Alex Munger, Jordan Reeves, Josh Sawyer, Kayla Votaw, Tiana Wheeler, Macayla Wildrick, Dakota Wiseman, and Brady Zuver. Volunteer assistant director is Dustin Campbell and technical manager is Travis Creek. Overseeing tickets are Marcia Geiser and Julie Taylor.
