Allen Jeffery “AJ” Rodin, 10, of Hudson, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Born August 14, 2007, in Adrian, he was the son of Jay Jeffery and Barbara Faye (Taylor) Rodin.

AJ was currently enrolled in the fifth grade in Lincoln Elementary at Hudson Area Schools. As a typical adolescent boy, he loved Legos, superheroes, dinosaurs, video games, YouTube, and playing with his peers. He also enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go fishing. He envisioned being a fisherman when he grew up. His time on earth was all too brief, but his family will forever carry him in their hearts.

Surviving to mourn his unexpected loss are his parents of Hudson; his younger sister, Karly, at home; maternal grandparents, Evelyn and Daryl Mabrey of Hudson; paternal grandparents Ron Rodin and Karen Belifore both of CA; maternal great-grandmother, Peggy Mabrey of Tecumseh; paternal great-grandparents, Doris Rodin of CA and Etta Malone of Findlay, OH, and Harvey Malone of OH; maternal aunts and uncles, Bobby and Anita Taylor of Adrian, and Peggy and Jim Reed of ME; a paternal uncle and aunt, Mark and Amber Rodin of CA; and a special “adopted” grandmother, Joann (Watson) Clark, who served as his student aide since Kindergarten.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Smith and James Mabrey; and a paternal great-grandfather, Perry Rodin.

A funeral service for AJ will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Medina Federated Church with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating. A fellowship luncheon will follow and private family burial will take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday at the Church, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the service. Arrangements are being handled by the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson. Memorial contributions in AJ’s memory can be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
