North Central Local Schools Back To School Information

August 16, 2013Updated:November 30, 2016No Comments2 Mins Read

The North Central Local Schools are prepared for the start of the 2013-2014 school year. We have many staff changes this year due to eight staff retirements. We have nine new staff members that will be in the elementary, junior high and high school. In addition, we have six existing staff members that have moved to different positions. We are excited about all of the changes because we believe they will continue to improve the educational environment of our school district.

We have instituted a change in the instructional style of the elementary with the team teacher concept. All grade levels will have a team of three teachers that include an intervention specialist at each grade level. We believe this will help all of our students with the instructional process. This is a proven model that has shown great success in improving instruction and test results.

The school district has also continued with providing laptop computers for our students. Every student in grades seven through twelve will have their own laptop. We are also providing access to laptops for our students in grades four through six. In addition, we will have portable labs available for our lower elementary students as well.

We believe making this technology available to our students is a great asset to increase their ability to learn in addition to preparing them to take State mandated testing by computer rather than paper and pencil testing. This technology enables our students to access many educational resources that were not possible before.

We have also continued to upgrade our facilities this summer. The high school gymnasium has been repainted and new flooring and ceilings have been installed in the cafeteria.

The North Central School district is dedicated to improving our facilities and educational opportunities for all of our students. Our goal is to provide our students with the best educational opportunities possible and to create a positive learning environment supported by technology and the best instructional staff we can provide. We are looking forward to a very successful 2013-2014 school year.
