Amie Lou Dick, 92, of Montpelier, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Parkview–DeKalb Hospital in Auburn, Ind.

Amie was born on September 4, 1933, in Detroit, Mich., to Frank B. and Elizabeth (O’Bryan) Altaffer. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1951.

On September 4, 1951, she married Dallas Harvey Dick in Montpelier, Ohio. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2017.


Amie dedicated much of her working life to serving others. She worked for 28 years at Bell Telephone/GTE, later known as Verizon, in Bryan, Bellevue and Fort Wayne, Ind.

After retirement, she also worked for a period of time in the Williams County Courthouse Recorder’s Office and at Chase Brass & Copper Company in Holiday City.

She was a member of New Hope Community Church in Bryan and was also active with the Pioneer Lions Club. Amie especially loved raising rabbits and participating in rabbit shows, a hobby she pursued with great passion over the years.


Amie served in numerous offices and positions within the American Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club, Ohio State Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club where she was inducted as the first Hall of Fame Member, Ohio State Rabbit Breeders Club where she was honored with a Distinguished Member Award, Tri-State Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club and the Williams County Rabbit Breeders Association.

She had traveled to 27 different states attending rabbit shows. Also, she served as a Williams County 4-H volunteer for several years and enjoyed traveling, canoeing and watching Ohio State football.

Amie is survived by her children: Lamar (Pam) Dick of Hamilton, Ind.; Kevin Dick of Bryan, Ohio; Lee (Drenda) Dick of Montpelier, Ohio; and Jeff (Lisa) Dick of Montpelier, Ohio. She is also survived by her brother, Joe (Janet) Altaffer of Montpelier, Ohio; and her sister, Angie (Altaffer) Miller of Pioneer, Ohio. Grandchildren: Chris (Erin) Dick; Nate (Beth) Gilcher, Tyler Gilcher, Kennedy, Kamryn, Kerrigan and Kasia Dick; Makenzie (Rob) Brenner, Carston (Madison) Dick; Erica, Jennifer Smiley; Weston, Ashton, Logan, Addison, Caroline Dick, Aaryian (Kris) Shoup, Alex and Dawson Fedderke; bonus grandson Tyler Michael; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Altaffer; brother, Jim Altaffer; her husband, Dallas Harvey Dick; and one daughter, Cheryl Smiley.


Visitation will be held Friday, March 13, from 4–7 p.m. and Saturday, March 14, 10–11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor David Nicholls officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to New Hope Community Church or Ohio Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club (perpetual award in Amie’s memory).
