Archbold School Board met for the first time in 2025 for its annual organizational meeting and January’s regular meeting on Monday the 13th.

Board members in attendance were Karen Beck, Gina Benecke, Skeat Hug, Jeremy Hurst, and Tyson Stuckey. Upon Gina Benecke’s nomination, Jeremy Hurst was chosen to serve as the 2025 Board President.

Tyson Stuckey was selected as the 2025 Board Vice President following a nomination by Karen Beck. Gina Benecke was appointed as the OSBA legislative liaison for 2025 while Karen Beck will serve as the OSBA student achievement liaison.

The 2025 meeting schedule was set as follows: January 13, 2025; February 10, 2025; March 17, 2025; April 21, 2025; May 19, 2025 (4:30 p.m.); June 16, 2025; August 18, 2025; September 15, 2025; October 20, 2025; November 17, 2025; and December 15, 2025.

All meetings will take place at 5:00 p.m. in the high school’s media center unless otherwise specified. A schedule for financial work sessions was also confirmed.

After establishing the Board Service Fund at $5,000, the Board assigned standard authorizations to the Treasurer, including the ability to request tax advances from the county auditor, invest available funds at the highest interest rates, and pay district bills within the limits of appropriations. The treasurer will also represent the Board at all Enterprise Zone tax incentive review councils.

The Board granted authorizations to the superintendent, allowing him to accept employee resignations, make employment offers, and approve leave requests.

He is also authorized to act as the district’s purchasing agent, represent the district on the Northern Buckeye Education Council, and dispose of obsolete equipment and materials.

The 2025 District Records Commission consisting of the Board President, Superintendent, and Treasurer was also established.

As the Board continued with the Regular Meeting agenda, the principals and curriculum director were excused from giving verbal monthly reports, and their submitted written education reports were approved instead.

Superintendent Selgo took a moment to recognize the board members for their years of service to the district.

Karen Beck was honored for seven years, Jeremy Hurst for nine years, Tyson Stuckey for five years, and both Skeat Hug and Gina Benecke for three years each.

Providing a quick financial update, Treasurer Kinsman shared that the state audit for the 2023-2024 school year is currently in progress.

She also noted that property values were received from the Fulton County Auditor and indicated a 0.6 percent increase. At the time of this writing the Treasurer had not received word from the Henry County Auditor.

In addition to financial reports for December 2024, the Board approved $1045 in donations as well as two appropriation modifications and two estimated resource changes.

Looking to the next school year, the Board adopted the 2025-2026 district calendar and approved the annual Washington D.C. trip for the Middle School 8th set for April 30 – May 2, 2026.

Two high school students were also approved for early graduation, pending their completion of all state and local requirements.

Per the new Ohio minimum wage, the Board agreed to increase the hourly earnings for student workers and casual laborers as follows: 1st year of service to $10.70, 2nd year to $10.85, and 3rd year to $11.01 per hour.

In personnel matter, the board approved one-year Grade Level High Dosage Tutor contracts for Jessica Nofziger, Amy DeLong, and Morgan Vickery.

The Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center’s substitute teacher and paraprofessional substitute lists were also accepted. Retirement resignations were received from Dawn Rupp and Lori Coressel.

The next Archbold School Board meeting will take place in the High School Media Center on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
