The Archbold Community Garden officially kicked off its annual garden planting day following Mother’s Day, held on May 17, 2026.
It continues a long-running tradition aimed at supporting local gardeners and encouraging community involvement.
Held each spring to avoid the risk of late frost, the planting day brought together volunteers, garden members and participants in the organization’s My Garden Plot Program.
According to organizers, four Archbold Community Garden members attended this year’s event to help plant cooperative beds and assist participants with planning and planting their individual garden spaces.
The event also included help from two local high school students completing community service hours for an end-of-year biology project.
This year, four participants are leasing garden plots through the My Garden Plot Program, which offers community members the opportunity to rent gardening space at a minimal cost. Organizers noted that all four available garden beds are currently full.
Participants in the program are responsible for maintaining their own plots while receiving guidance and support from Archbold Community Garden mentors throughout the growing season.
