The Archbold Community Theater’s fall production brought a wild burst of color, comedy, and music to the stage at Giffey Hall in Ridgeville Corners this past weekend with Madagascar – A Musical Adventure Jr.
The show ran September 26th through 27th and continued October 3rd, 4th, and 5th, drawing audiences of all ages eager to see the beloved animated film come alive through local talent.
Based on the hit DreamWorks movie, Madagascar Jr. follows Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo, and a mischievous team of penguins as they escape their comfortable home at New York’s Central Park Zoo.
The adventure leads them from the urban jungle of Manhattan to the wild and unpredictable island of Madagascar, ruled by the eccentric King Julien.
The musical’s high-energy songs, quick humor, and heartfelt moments had audiences laughing, cheering, and tapping their feet throughout the show.
Performers filled the stage with enthusiasm, bringing each of the beloved characters to life with charm and personality.
The colorful costumes, creative choreography, and lively musical numbers captured the spirit of the animated classic while adding a fresh community-theater touch.
For many younger audience members, it was their first introduction to the stage version of the movie they grew up with, and for the cast, it was a chance to share their love of theater in a fun, family-friendly story.
The Archbold Community Theater’s fall musical once again showcased the strong community support and local talent that make small-town productions shine.
With laughter echoing through Giffey Hall and the audience “moving it, moving it” right along with the cast, Madagascar Jr. proved to be an energetic success and a fitting celebration of community spirit and creativity.
