Archbold Village Council Handles Ag District Renewal Applications

The Archbold Village Council met at the Ruihley Park Pavillion for the Monday, February 15, 2021 meeting, at 5:30 despite the snow storm that caused many other meetings to be cancelled. The minutes of the February 1 meeting were approved along with a review of the list of bills, payroll and financial report.

Mayor Brad Grime opened a Public Hearing for Farmland Ag District Renewal Applications but with no discussion, the public hearing was closed.

Following some discussion Council voted to “declare and emergency” or suspend the rules that require a resolution of general nature to be read on three separate days and to approve Resolution 2021-17 “Approving five renewal applications for Farmland in the Agricultural District Designation, and declaring an emergency.”

Council also approved:


•Resolution 18 Awarding contract to Peterson Construction Company for the Water Plant Improvement Project and declaring an emergency

•Ordinance 2021-19 Amending Appropriation Ordinance #2020-67 to provide for an increase in appropriation in the L.E. Short Sidewalk Fund and authorizing Fund transfers to close the fund and declaring an emergency

•Resolution 20 Authorizing the administrator to submit a rural business development grant application the the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development to capitalize a small business revolving loan fund and allocate matching funds from General fund and declaring an emergency.


Council reviewed and discussed the January 2021 reports for Income Tax Receipts, Police Department Calls for Service, Fire and EMS Call Response and Street Department Labor and Fleet.

Councilman Kevin Morton commented that the Parks and Recreation fund raising campaign for a Splash Pad is off to a good start.
