ARCHBOLD – Last week, two-time NWOAL Player of the Year Brayton Huffman committed to continue her golf career and further her education at Trine University in Angola, Indiana.
Huffman said when she began the process of looking at schools, she had no idea where she wanted to go but quickly felt Trine was where she was going to end up.
“When I visited Trine, everyone that I met was very nice and made me feel welcome”, said Huffman.
“The campus is also beautiful and pretty small which is perfect for me. I also like that it is close to home.”
Besides being the two-time player of the year, Huffman was sectional champion in 2021, 1st Team NWOAL the last two seasons, won The Village Reporter Athlete of the Week (twice), and was Swanton Welding and Machining Athlete of the Week on two occasions.
Academically, she has received the Academic All-Ohio Award, been a member of the National Honor Society, holds a 3.9 GPA, and has consistently been on the honor roll during her high school career.
Sports have played a major role in Huffman’s life. “I learned how important it was to have fun and enjoy playing the game, especially with my teammates.”
“I always play better when I have a smile on my face, and my team constantly made me laugh and encouraged me”, added Huffman.
While at Trine, Huffman will be a Finance/Accounting major.
