Tyler Herschberger – Pettisville High School The Pettisville Blackbirds are known far and wide for several sports, but golf is not one of them. That is in the process of changing though, and Tyler is at the forefront of that recognition. This senior has a few seasons and a few tee shots under his belt, and the work is paying big dividends. With Tyler in the lead at the 2012 BBC Championships, the Battling Blackbirds came in fourth, a mere eight strokes behind third place Fayette. Keep a ‘Birds’ eye on this guy!

FAYETTE – The divas of distance of Fayette and Edon were in action at the Fayette Eagle Invitational on September 15. Sabrina Brown and Levi Cvikel of Edon led the Lady Bomber contingent that did not qualify for team competition because of team population. OTTAWA – 135 runners and 13 teams took to the course at the 2012 running of the Ottawa Glandorf Blue/Gold Invitational on September 15. In the mix of combatants on this day were the Pettisville Lady Blackbirds, the Montpelier Lady Locomotives and the Stryker Lady Panthers. Carly Hoffmire and Emily Eicher of Pettisville finished 25th and 37th respectively to lead the Ladybirds to the ninth team spot at the event. MONTPELIER – The final home match of the year went very well for the North Central Eagles as they shot a blazing round of 145 to ease past Archbold, who shot a very respectable 154, and Delta with a 177. EDON – In a September 18th, BBC encounter the Edon Blue Bombers eased past the Hilltop Cadets, along with the rain and wind, to capture a 190-217 victory at Windwood Hollow Golf Course. MORENCI, MI – The Stryker Panthers packed up their clubs and headed north for a conference showdown with the Fayette Eagles on September 18th.  The unfamiliar surroundings posed no obstacles for the Panthers as they downed the Eagles 165-192. DEFIANCE – The Montpelier Locomotives made a trip south to St. Mikes Golf Course on September 18th and took a 183-185 victory over the host Fairview Apaches home with them. MONTPELIER – On a cold, sometimes rainy, and often windy September 18th afternoon, the North Central Eagles battled the conditions and the visiting Pettisville Blackbirds to take 151-198 victory in the BBC clash to finish 5-0 in the league.  With the win the Eagles captured the regular season conference title for the first time since 2005.
