Barbara Joan Garrett was born on March 28, 1931, to Mary Louise Garriott of Anderson, IN, and was placed for adoption.

Shortly after her placement, she was chosen to be the forever and much-loved child of George D. and Bettie I. (Clifford) Spencer.

Barbara passed from this life to her Heavenly home in the early hours of Sunday, May 21, 2023. She spent her childhood years moving from city to city, following her father’s job promotions.

She lived her teen years in Detroit, MI, where she met the love of her life, Daniel Yevtich.

Barbara and her beloved Danny were married shortly after her graduation from high school on July 16, 1949. Together they shared a very special love that lasted until Daniel’s passing in August 2010.

During their marriage they were joined by six children: Judith Yevtich (Donald) Gerdes, Sharon Yevtich (Wayne) Dietz, Geoffrey (Jeanette) Yevtich, Nancy Yevtich (Michael) Jackson, Matthew (Kathi) Yevtich, and Mark (Dianne) Yevtich. She and Danny were also blessed with 14 grandchildren: Christopher (Renee) Gerdes, Danielle Gerdes (Ben) DeBow, Heather Yevtich (Andy) Pena, Angela Yevtich (Kyle) Stewart, Ashley Yevtich (Bobby) Shepard, Nicole Jackson (Tom) Pauzoulis, Sarah Jackson (Justin) Skattum, Jonathon (Jackie) Jackson, Matthew (Meagan) Yevtich II, Derek Yevtich, Jaret Yevtich, Taylor Yevtich, Merek (Logan) Yevtich, and Blake Yevtich. They were further blessed to share great-grandchildren: Spencer Gerdes, Owen Gerdes, Aidan Pena, Tristan Pena, Krew Stewart, Adeline Pauzuolis, Katelyn Skattum, Shawn Jackso, Peyton Jackson, Elijah Shepard, Delylah Shepard, Kaleb Yevtich, and Natalee Yevtich,

Barbara worked tirelessly to be sure her family was loved and well cared for, as they were her most important task.

She kept a lovely home, welcoming many personal friends and business personnel through the doors. Barbara worked alongside her husband in their business, Yevtich Marathon, for many years, serving as bookkeeper.

She also worked as a teller for First Federal of Delta and Farmers and Merchants State Bank. Barbara was a long-time member of the Delta Church of Christ, happily serving in various capacities such as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, VBS teacher, and member of the Fellowship Committee.

She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Delta, serving as Worthy Matron in 1958, and District Grand Deputy Matron in 1964.

During their retirement years, Barbara and Danny enjoyed traveling the eastern portion of the US in their motorhome.

Their favorite locations to visit included Frankenmuth, MI, the east coast, and the Florida gulf, where they spent their winters.

Barbara was blessed throughout her life with many friends and close acquaintances, gathering them wherever she went.

Per Barbara’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are being cared for by Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon OH.

Those wishing to pay their respects by giving a memorial gift are asked to consider the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a charity that Barbara and Danny supported in honor of their great-grandson Owen.

Donations may be sent to: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4420 Carver Woods Dr., Blue Ash, OH 45242.
