EDON (February 2, 2024) – A big second quarter for Edon, which included four triples, provided the cushion the Bombers needed to hold off a late run by North Central for a 48-41 win.
Ben Pettit staked the Eagles to a quick 4-0 lead as he got free inside for a pair of layups before an offensive rebound bucket by Cohen Hulbert put Edon on the board.
The Eagles extended the lead to 7-2 leading to an Edon timeout and then a 6-0 run by Edon.
Hulbert started the run with a score off an inbounds play, Briggs Gallehue hit a baseline jumper and then Gallehue would get a put back to give Edon their first lead at 8-7 with 2:01 left in the quarter.
After trading baskets, Cohen Meyers hit a jumper to put North Central in front 11-10 going to the second stanza.
Edon would catch fire from the floor in the second as Max Radabaugh started things with a bucket from the foul line and then a triple from the right wing.
The run continued behind three-pointers by Hulbert and Peyton Trausch, a two-point field goal from Trausch, and Corbin Chrisman capped off the 16-0 Bomber surge with a trey from the left corner to make it 26-11 with 2:53 left in the first half.
Pettit would go 2/2 at the line to stop the bleeding and account for North Central’s only points of the quarter as they were 0/13 from the floor in the quarter and 5/29 in the first half.
Edon pushed the lead to 30-18 early in the third before North Central made their first run of the second half to get back in the game.
The Eagles would go 4/4 at the line and get scores by Gage Kidston and Meyers during an 8-2 spurt to trim the deficit to six points at 32-26.
Edon responded with the last four points of the quarter as Radabaugh and Gallehue each hit shots to give Edon a 36-26 lead after three quarters.

Back-to-back long balls started the final stanza for the Eagles as Ethan Beard and freshman Jackson Poynter connected to trim the Bomber lead to 36-32.
Edon answered back with four straight points, but the Eagles scored four straight points of the own to make it a 40-36 game.
That would be as close as the Eagles (6-11 2-3 BBC) would get though as Edon (4-12, 2-3 BBC) followed with a 7-0 run to increase their lead back to double digits.
A layup by Gallehue, an offensive rebound stick back from Hulbert, a free throw and another lay in by Gallehue, grew the lead to 47-36 to put the Bombers in control.
Gallehue tallied 17 points, 11 in the second half and Radabaugh added 10 for the Bombers. Kidston was the lone Eagle in double figures with a dozen.
