MONTPELIER – The newest member of the BBC, the Holgate Tigers, placed five runners in the top six to grab the boy’s championship at the BBC league meet in Montpelier.
Fayette finished second led by Wyatt Mitchell’s fourth place finish in at time of 18:41 and Jose Blanco came home ninth for the Eagles by running a 19:16. Pettisville’s Zach McWatters ran a 19:14 to place seventh and help Pettisville place third.
North Central was fourth fronted by Joe Burt (16th, 21:12), Montpelier secured fifth topped by a ninth-place finish from Garrett Walz (20:27), and Hilltop’s Carson Jennings placed 18th (21:26) to help the Cadets to the sixth spot in the team standings.
Edon was just behind Hilltop in seventh place led by Hunter Howard who was 12th (20:30) and Stryker was eighth as Garrett Moser was 28th with a 22:41.
In the girl’s race, Fayette’s Leslie Burrow was the overall champion with a time of 21:37 and Pettisville took home the team title as five runners placed in the top 10.
Pacing Pettisville was Grace Remington (3rd, 22:16), Kendall Sears (4th, 22:16), Madison Remington (6th, 23:44), and Sophie Sterken (8th, 24:03).
Burrow was joined in the top 10 by teammate Maeve Maginn who was seventh (23:58) to lead the Lady Eagles to a third-place team finish.
Montpelier took fourth as Jenna Clinger raced to a 16th place finish in a time of 25:38 while Stryker and North Central tied for fifth with Natalie Bowers (26th, 29:10) leading the Panthers and Darbi Stewart was 18th (26:23) for North Central.
Annabelle Soltau was 28th (30:11) for Hilltop who took seventh with 160 points.
