On January 8th, the Blakeslee Village Council held a regular meeting at 6 pm. Present for this meeting was Mayor Eric Jenkins, Fiscal Officer Courtny Osborn, council members Robert Mohre, Linda Muehlfeld, Rosemary Alexander, Shelly Cox with Virgil Green absent.

Mayor Jenkins called the meeting to order at 6:08 pm. as Green joined by cell phone. The December meeting minutes were approved before Osborn passed out the final appropriations for the 2025 budget for the council members to review.

Osborn broke down the categories and explained the amounts appropriated to the funds. Categories included state highway, parks & recreation, general fund, and police department fund.

There were not many changes to the budget from 2024 as salaries stayed the same and utilities only went up a bit as well as postage and insurance. All council members accepted the 2025 budget.

Next was the appointing of a replacement for council member Cletus Radabaugh who sadly passed away on December 30th.

Osborn explained that the mayor could appoint someone to finish up the term, which would end in 2025, or a special meeting could be arranged if voting would be necessary.

Council members mentioned that Nick Reed was interested in the position, and all agreed that it would be a good fit since he has served on council before.

For council comments, Mohre said the Christmas parade went very well and had a great turnout and mentioned they should update the town Christmas decorations, invite local school bands to march, and maybe contact food trucks to set up.

The council discussed writing thank you cards for all the people who helped out with the parade festivities.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:40 pm. The next Blakeslee Village Council meeting will be held on February 5th at 6 pm.
