Present at the most recent Blakeslee Village Council meeting on February 8, 2024, were Mayor Eric Jenkins, Fiscal Officer Courtny Osborn, Police Chief Randy Mohre, and councilors Shelly Cox, Robert Mohre, and Cletus Radabaugh via phone. Councilor Rosemary Thiel was absent.

The meeting, called to order at 6 p.m., resulted in the approval of the January minutes, recent purchase orders, financial reports (with receipts presented at $7,893.55 and payments at $4,020.37), and the resignation of previous council member Nick Reed.

Virgil Greene and Linda Muehlfeld were sworn in as council members, effectively filling all open positions.

It was then discussed that Blakeslee would like to make sure to have an active participation in county organizations, and grant opportunities for road signage were discussed.

Payment for officers that helped during the Christmas Parade is approved, with the checks needing to be delivered.

Council then voted to enforce the garbage bill for a property that was damaged in the 2023 fire. Council said that because they still own the property, the owners will be responsible for paying Blakeslee.

Mayor Jenkins will begin inspecting the sidewalks throughout the village and is working on a solution for the abandoned homes off of State Route 34.

A sympathy card will be sent out to David Mohre’s family in honor of his time spent serving the village as their police chief, and Muehlfeld brought up the necessity of repainting the village hall.

Blakeslee Village Council will meet next at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
