Bonnie-Gonzales-Green-Cappi WEBBonnie Gonzales, second from left, serving as Junior Graduate Regent for Montpelier Chapter #270, Women of the Moose, was among 18 chapter co-workers in the state of Ohio who were eligible to be invested with the Green Cap honor recently. Convocation ceremonies were held during the annual WOTM conference in conjunction with the Ohio State Moose Association convention at the Holiday Inn, Independence, near Cleveland, August 4-7. The Green Cap necklace is bestowed on a qualifying junior graduate regent who meets certain requirements while serving as senior regent of her respective chapter, which must earn the Award of Achievement for that particular year.

Pictured are from left, Reynalda McKinney (Bonnie’s capping officer), Green Cappie Bonnie, Senior Regent Cindy Pierce, and Joyce Schelling. Rey and Joyce wear the regalia of the College of Regents, the highest degree of the Women of the Moose. Joyce served as capping officer for Jackie Arbaugh of Chillicothe. A Green Cap junior graduate regent who fulfills additional requirements may become eligible to receive her College of Regents degree which is conferred annually on past regents during the International Women of the Moose Conference.

Also honored during the convention was Troy Thorp of Montpelier Lodge #312, Loyal Order of Moose, who received his Fellowship Degree of Honor in ceremonies during the August convention. Congratulations to both Bonnie and Troy! During the convention Supreme Councilman Warren Cummings from Fairbanks, Alaska, and Past Grand Regent Sandra Thompson, Colorado Springs, Colorado served as official visitors and delivered special addresses. Dwaine Brown, Galion, was honored upon his retirement after serving the association many years as a regional manager, territorial manager and Moose International Association Liaison. He is succeeded in that capacity by Gary Muter, Sylvania. Installation of officers and board members for the 2016-17 year was held at the convention’s conclusion. Serving as the new OSMA President is Mike Uhlenhake, Indian Lake, and new WOTM Ohio Deputy Grand Regent Dori Howdieshell, Greenville. John Sipes, Galion, association secretary, was installed as a new Supreme Councilman at the Moose International convention in St. Louis in July.
