FAYETTE (January 25, 2025) – For one quarter on homecoming night in Fayette, the Eagles stuck right with visiting Hicksville.

However, the second quarter was a series of unfortunate events as Fayette went ‘oh-for’ from the field and committed 11 turnovers.

The Aces parlayed that into a 16-0 eight minutes and went on to beat the Eagles 62-32.

Jayden Rosalez scored on three drives to the rim in the first four minutes and Luke Eicher hit a triple to put the Aces up 11-2.

The Eagles (1-16) came back to close the gap. Kruez Lichtenwald hit a deep triple, Xander Goble hit a cutting Dane Andrews for a basket, then had a scoop and score along with a three-point play himself to get the Eagles within 16-12 at the quarter horn.

Then came the abysmal second. While Fayette struggled, Hicksville pulled away. Jesus Avalos scored twice inside, Eicher hit another triple and got a putback, and Austin Sanders added four more points as the Aces opened up a 32-12 cavern at the half.

Eicher’s third three-pointer and driving layup helped Hicksville increase their lead to 48-19 after the third.

Fayette shot 11/34 from the floor for the night and had 27 turnovers in all. Hicksville (7-9) threw the ball away as well, committing 17 turnovers. The Aces shot 50 percent for the game.

Eicher and Rosalez each had 13 points to pace Hicksville. Goble led all scorers with 14 for Fayette.

HICKSVILLE (62) – Sanders 6; Langham 5; Graber 0; Stuckey 1; Eicher 13; Rosalez 13; Phillips 13; Avalos 8; Leavell 4; Yoder 9; Castillo 0; Totals: 20-6-4 – 62
