BOYS & GIRLS WRESTLING OHSAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS: Delta’s Mattin & Archbold’s Dominique Win State Titles

COLUMBUS (March 10, 2024) – Delta’s Adam Mattin (113) and Archbold’s Brodie Dominique (144) each repeated as state champions in Division III at the 87th annual OHSAA Boys and Girls State Wrestling Championships inside the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.

Mattin capped off a 45-2 junior season with a 14-1 major decision over Scott Fuller (Genoa) and Dominique got a 3-0 decision over Brock Durbin (Mapleton) to conclude his senior season at 56-1.

In Division II, the Wauseon Indians brought eight wrestlers to Columbus and leave with six placers.

At 106, Carter Stuckey would wrestle to a seventh-place finish and Joseph Lugabihl (113) grabbed eighth place.

Junior Zavian LaFountain (120) would lose his first bout of the tournament and then win four matches in a row to finish fourth for the Indians.

Junior Jordan Cook (138), also lost his first bout of the weekend but would wrestle back to finish in fifth while Benicio Torres (144) would fall in his semifinal bout 4-1 but he too wrestled back and secured a fourth-place finish.

At 190, Austin Kovar came back after a tough loss in the semifinals to take third for Wauseon’s final placer of the weekend.

Joining Mattin with podium finishes for Delta was Landon Lintermoot who would finish seventh at 144, Connor Sintobin grabbed fifth at 190, Cass Chiesa (215) captured eighth.

Archbold would get their second state placer of the weekend as Wyat Ripke was fourth at 215 and Evergreen brought home a state placer with Grant Richardson (190) taking seventh place.

On the girls’ side, Wauseon freshman Kaelynn Hartsock would drop her first two matches while Marlee Yoder of Bryan was injured in her first bout and was forced to default out of the tournament.

Archbold’s Gabby Oregon lost in the first round before winning a consolation match but then dropped her second consolation match to be eliminated.

Montpelier’s Jacee Altaffer opened her tournament with a win in the first round before falling in the quarterfinals and then lost her consolation match.
