The city will buy 500 tons of road salt through the Ohio Department of Transportation for next winter. This is the fifth year the city has purchased road salt through the state. This year’s amount is probably the lowest as the city still has about 1,000 tons on hand.

The city uses about 1,000 to 1,200 tons during a typical winter.

The council approved the first reading of an ordinance to amend the Bryan Zoning Map to rezone 106 South Emmet St. from R-2 to M-U. The site has been purchased from the city and buyer plans to open sign and print shop.

The council approved a resolution authorizing the clerk-treasurer to advertise for bids for engineering storage building. The city wants to see what sort of prices it can get. If the bids come back too high, the project will die.

The council approve a resolution approving the Community Reinvestment Area Tax Exemption application as submitted by Laub Auto Parts of Bryan, Inc. The business is planning on a 5,000 square foot expansion behind the current site.

The council approved a building permit for the project as well. The company anticipates the cost will be $215,000.

Council also approved the hiring of a part-time person to help with tax returns after a full-time employee resigned. The city will post an opening for the full-time position.

The council approved the hiring of pool employees for the summer.

Approved allowing civil service tests for a sergeant and a patrol office for the police following staff changes.
