Bryan School Board Gets Organized & Holds First Regular Meeting Of 2021

Bryan City Board of Education voted at the January 4, 2021 Organizational meeting to:

•Select Scott Benedict as President and Dustin Schlachter as Vice President

•Set 2021 Regular Meeting Schedule as 2nd Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at Bryan Elementary Commons

•Accept Board Committee Assignments


•Establish a Service Fund of $20,000.00 for 2021 to cover School Board expenses

•Approve 2021 STANDING AUTHORIZATIONS:

A. Superintendent as purchasing agent for Bryan City Schools, thus dispensing with the Board’s requirement to authorize and approve all purchases and payments, in accordance with
Ohio Revised Code 3313.18.


B. Superintendent the authority to employ personnel on a temporary basis.

C. Superintendent the authority to dispose of obsolete equipment and materials.

D. CFO the authority to request and invest tax money as it becomes available through the County Auditor.

E. Authorization for the CFO to make appropriation modifications throughout the year as is necessary.


F. CFO the authority to pay all bills in a timely manner.

G. CFO, Superintendent, and Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent as Board of Education representatives for Mandatory Public Records Training, required by House Bill 9.

At the Regular meeting, which followed immediately after the Organizational meeting, the Board voted to approve:

•Minutes of December 21 regular meeting and December 28 Special meeting

•Treasurer’s report/recommendations which included a donation of $534 from Mountain Color, Inc. for Elementary Art Department

•Administrative Recommendation of a Resolution authorizing the superintendent to enter into collective and individual agreements with Ohio colleges and universities on behalf of the Board of Education, for terms related to the College Credit Plus Program that will be implemented throughout Ohio during the 21-22 school year. The authorization provided by this resolution shall remain in effect until withdrawn by formal action of the Board.

•Personell Recommendations: Salary Placement of Jacob Sturt and Diana Stiverson; New Hire Classified Staff – Tristan Slicker as Bus Driver; New Hire Certified Staff – Adriana Dockery as part time St. Pat’s Intervention Specialist; Resignation of Jacob Robb Custodian effective Jan. 22, 2021

In Communications, reports were given by all departments and the School Board Members were thanked for their service as it is School Board Recognition Month.

The next meeting will be held on February 8, 2021 at 7 p.m. at the Bryan Elementary Commons.
