GIRLS STATE … Irelyn Fryman, a graduating senior at Bryan High School, was the guest speaker at the weekly meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Bryan, sharing her experience attending the American Legion Auxiliary Buckeye Girls State conference, held this year at Bowling Green State University. The university hosted 600 high school students and staff members for a weeklong residential experience to learn about city, county and state government. Attendees are chosen by American Legion Auxiliary units across Ohio based on their leadership qualities, academic achievements and interest in government and current events. The event is nonpartisan. Fryman said she had been interested in it for several years and served as a bailiff and a clerk during the conference.
