Evergreen High School hosted a Career Day for students on Friday, January 16th, running from 8:45 a.m. to 11:20 a.m., giving students the opportunity to explore a wide range of career paths through direct interaction with professionals from across the region.
The event took place over several structured sessions during the morning hours, with regular classes paused while students rotated through career focused activities.
Students moved throughout the building participating in sessions that included resume writing, career exploration, and discussions about post-graduation options.
One of the central components of the morning was held in the school gymnasium, where career representatives were stationed to meet individually with students by grade level.
Principal Brady Ruffer said the format was designed to respond directly to student feedback. He noted that many students express a desire to speak with real professionals in fields they are curious about or to learn more about careers they may not yet realize exist.
By creating one on one conversations rather than large group presentations, the school aimed to make the experience more personal and meaningful.
A wide variety of career fields were represented, including local businesses, colleges, military branches, city departments, fire services, and other public service organizations.
Ruffer credited the event’s success to a seven-member leadership team and staff involvement, with outreach efforts extending through personal contacts, district communications, and community connections.
The goal, he said, was to include as broad a range of careers as possible and avoid limiting participation.
Career Day is part of Evergreen’s broader approach to career readiness. While the school hosts multiple career focused days each year, this event is the most comprehensive in structure.
Ruffer said the school plans to continue holding a similar Career Day annually and encourages local business owners and professionals interested in participating in the future to contact the Evergreen High School main office to be added to a running list of potential representatives.
The event was open to all Evergreen High School grade levels and was intended to help students better understand available career paths before making decisions about further education, technical training, or entering the workforce.
