Caroline Altaffer (1939 – 2018)

Caroline F. Altaffer, 78, of Montpelier, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Center in Bryan. She was born on April 26, 1939 in to Stryker, OH to Roe and Kathryn N. (Wise) Stantz.

Caroline worked at Allied Molded in Bryan and Mohawk Tools in Montpelier. She as a longtime member of the Montpelier Eagles and was an avid t.v. watcher who enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas.

She is survived by her three sons, Lee (Pam) Mauk of Edon, David Mauk of Archbold and Barry Mauk of Montpelier; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; four sisters, Marjorie (Ed) Keck of Bryan, Rebecca (Ron) Brown of Montpelier, Dinah (Hector) Camarillo of Bryan and Gretchen (Tracy) Reliford of Edgerton; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.


Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry “Hank” Altaffer, two children, Bobby and Cherie Mauk and grandson, Christopher Mauk.

She will be laid to rest in a graveside service on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Donations may be made to Williams County Cancer Assistance or to The American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
