Charlene Sostoi (1921 – 2018)

Charlene R. Sostoi, 96, a lifelong resident of Montpelier, passed away Tuesday morning February 27, 2018 in her home. She was born on August 7, 1921 in Montpelier to Martin and Gertrude (Hoover) Wisman. Charlene graduated from Montpelier High School in 1939.

Charlene worked as the school secretary for Superior Middle School for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier, where she was a member of the Rosary Alter Society and served as church secretary for approximately 20 years. She was also a member of the Eagle Creek Garden Club, Williams County Fair Foundation and the Twice Ten Study Club.

She is survived by her son, Martin W. Sostoi (Linda) of Montpelier; two grandchildren, Rachael (Tyson Willis) Sostoi and Martin W. Sostoi both of Montpelier; one brother, Floyd Puffenberger and one sister, Addie Ione Boucher both of Bryan. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alex J. Sostoi in 1971, son, Thomas Sostoi in 1961, one brother, Richard Wisman; and three sisters, Margaret Schnittker, Berneda Allshouse and Paulina Hollinger.
