Chelsea House Orchestra Returns to Opera House to Kick Off Guest Artist Series: First Concert of an Eight Program Series

October 8, 2013Updated:November 30, 2016No Comments2 Mins Read

The First program of the 2013-14 Passport to Entertainment Series at the Fayette Opera House features the Chelsea House Orchestra of Chelsea, Michigan. This program is sponsored by the Fayette Community Fine Arts Council and staged in Fayette’s historic Opera House. The Fayette Guest Artist Series has become one of the premier cultural and enrichment series in the Bean Creek Region.

This Saturday’s concert marks the third visit to the Opera House by this dynamic young performance group.

Musically, CHO (Chelsea House Orchestra) provides a varied and colorful performance repertoire with the majority of the music derived from traditional Celtic sources. However, other folk music sources are used to provide students with an eclectic musical experience.

All music is memorized and arrangements often evolve from rehearsals and suggestions from students. Individuals are showcased through the use of solos, duos, and special features.

Students are also encouraged to learn other instruments such as mandolin, guitar, bodhran, djembe, cajon, various folk percussion, bass, bouzouki and anything else they can think of that has a folk connection.

The doors to the Opera House open at 6:30 with the doors to the Ginnivan Auditorium opening at 7:00.  Curtain time is 7:30 p.m.

As always, a reception will follow the performance.

General Admission tickets and season passes will be on sale at the door. For additional information or ticket reservations call the Box Office at (419) 237-3111.
