The Chesterfield Township Trustees held their meeting on Monday, May 18, 2026. The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m., with trustees approving the previous meeting minutes and the bills presented for payment.

Fiscal Officer Peggy Volkman reviewed the township’s financial reports, including the payment register, receipt register, fund status, cash journal and cash summary by fund. Trustees also reviewed the payment listing report covering May 5 through May 18.

The board approved a Then and Now purchase order for John Machacek Jr. Inc. in the amount of $2,923.62 through Resolution 30-5-18-2026.

During the roads report, Herb Harris reported that mowing had been completed, along with work on township roads and in the shop as needed. Trustees also noted that Ward Construction received the 2026 seal coat project for Fulton County.

Fire-related business followed, with trustees approving the City of Morenci fire contract for 2026 and 2027 in the amount of $27,585.60.

The contract, approved through Resolution 27-5-18-2026, reflects a 2.7 percent increase from the 2025 and 2026 contract.

Trustees also accepted the Certificate of Estimated Property Tax Revenue from the Fulton County Auditor for the 0.70 mill Fire and EMS levy renewal. The certificate was dated May 7, 2026, and was accepted through Resolution 28-5-18-2026.

Lastly, the board approved Resolution 29-5-18-2026, declaring it necessary to levy a tax in excess of the ten-mill limitation for Fire and EMS. With no further business to attend to, the meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
