Clarence E. Leitner

Clarence Edward “Chic” Leitner, age 91, of rural Delta, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016, in his home. Prior to his retirement he had been a Teamster Truck Driver for 57 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local 279 in Decatur, Illinois.

Chic was born in Fulton County, Ohio on February 10, 1925, the son of Howard and Ruby (Swigert) Leitner. On December 10, 1966 he married Carolyn Secondcost, and she survives.  He was a member of the Winameg Christian Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Surviving is his wife, Carolyn; children, Craig Leitner of Holland, OH, Colleen Miller of Napoleon, OH, Shelby Bose of Bradenton, FL, Aaron Leitner of Napoleon, OH, Abbey Hahn of Holgate, OH, Cory (Kris) Leitner of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Joe Vocke of New Albany, OH, Tiffany Vocke of Napoleon, OH, Shaunell (Dan) MacGloan, Jeff Richards, Jeremiah (Katti) Leitner of Liberty Center, OH, Madi & Brooklynn Leitner of Decatur, IL, Maegan Allyn and Nathan Allyn of Decatur, IL; great-grandchildren, Savannah & Kade MacGloan, Ben Vocke, Laci Richards, Avery Allyn, Emalee Leitner, and Landyn Allyn.

He was preceded in death by his son, Arric Leitner; both parents; infant brother Charles; brothers Robert and Harold; and sister, Letha Page.

Visitation for Chic will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon, with a Celebration of Chic’s Life to immediately follow at 7:00 P.M.


The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care that they showed Clarence.
