The Dick family, Jeff and Lamar, are two family members who own a maple syrup farm and reportedly have leased 500 acres of land to Apex Energy, to put in a 49-megawatt solar field.
Construction is currently underway, in an area that is just south of the railroad tracks and just south of Holiday City.
While the field will reportedly be called Montpelier Solar Field, the village of Montpelier actually has nothing to do with the project, which is located in Jefferson Township.
According to Terry Rummel, a Williams County Commissioner, Apex will sell electricity from the yet to be installed solar panels. Some of the local schools will benefit by receiving some money from the project.
