Crash Claims Lives Of Two Edgerton Residents

David F. and Roberta M. Williams, both of Edgerton were pronounced dead at the scene of an accident that occurred on U.S. 20 near Ohio 49 during the afternoon hours on Saturday, May 5.  According to a press release issued by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, David, 65, was driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty eastbound on U.S. 20.  Roberta, 60, was a passenger in the vehicle. Meanwhile, John A. Smith, 58, of Edon, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on U.S. 20.

The two vehicles collided head on at approximately 4:25 PM Saturday.  Smith was transported to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers of Montpelier, where he was treated for his injures.

The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.  It is reported that seatbelts were worn by all occupants. Assisting at the scene were the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Northwest Township Fire Department, Williams County EMS, the Williams County Coroner’s Office, and the Williams County Prosecutor’s Office.
