Creta L. Bennett, 96, of Bryan died Tuesday morning, February 14, 2017 at Hillside Country Living, Bryan.
Her son, Curt Bennett and her granddaughter, Lynsey Slagle, will remember her love of flowers and church music, her daily devotional time, and the joy that her great-grandchildren brought to her life. Most of all, they’ll remember her love for her Lord and her faithfulness to Him. She served as a church musician for 79 years. Creta started playing for services on a regular basis at the age of 14 and continued until the age of 94.
Immediate family members include her son, Curt Bennett of Bryan; granddaughter, Lynsey (Daniel) Slagle of Bryan; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Emaline and Noah Slagle of Bryan. She is survived by one brother, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Creta was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bennett in 2002 and her daughter-in-law, Dana Bennett in 1999, and two brothers.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. A celebration of her life will take place at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 925 Fountain Grove Drive, Bryan. Burial will follow at Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan.
