SWANTON (May 14, 2025) – Swanton got a fast start as they hung a first inning octopus on Evergreen, sat through an hour-long rain delay, and went on to a 12-1 win in a Division V sectional final.
The Bulldogs (13-13) now move on to next week’s district tournament against Eastwood at Liberty Center.
Beyla Remer started the first beating out her nubber in front of the plate for an infield hit, but the Bulldog swings were much sharper after that.
Lacey Shinaver’s RBI double to left, and Alexa Faber’s hard grounder through the left side made it 2-0.
After Carli Lagrange reached on an infield single, Jordyn Ramirez brought home two more runs with a double down the left field line.
Swanton got more when Adrianna Elliott’s fly to right was dropped for an error and run-scoring singles from Remer and Shinaver capped the outburst.
Remer kept the Vikings under control most of the night, as Evergreen got just five hits. The Vikings scored their only run when they chained together hits by Alex Paulson, Peyton Mossing and Megan Clancy with two-down in the second.
The Bulldogs tacked on two more in the third on Faber’s two-RBI single up the middle to push the lead to 10-1.
Swanton got to the 10-run margin in the fourth on Kendall Baumbarger’s line drive double down the right field line and another infield hit from Remer where the Vikings couldn’t find the bag at first on her ground ball.
