RETIREMENT … Dan Yahraus is surprised at his retirement party from an old friend – the joy of their friendship filling the room with laughter and smiles.

After more than a quarter-century of dedicated service, Dan Yahraus is hanging up his Chamber of Commerce hat – though knowing Dan, he’ll still pop up wherever community spirit is in the air.
Since 1998, Dan has served as Executive Director of the Bryan Area Chamber of Commerce, a role he embraced with passion, perseverance, and a reliable sense of humor.
Whether guiding the Leadership Williams County program or navigating 26 different bosses over the years, Dan has remained a steady and inspiring force for progress.
“It’s hard to explain – I’m excited, a little bit scared, but also looking forward to finally being able to relax,” Dan said with a laugh.
Don’t expect him to disappear. He’s already got his eye on undertaking the passion project of painting the underpass bridge and hopefully achieving his substitute teaching license to get back in the classroom. Of course, there’s plenty of family time with grandkids ahead.
Dan has worn many hats, but one of the most challenging? Learning to adapt to new leadership, again and again. “I’ve had 26 different bosses over the years,” he joked.
Reflecting on how Bryan and Williams County has evolved, he shared his joy in seeing greater cooperation between cities and villages. The growth in the downtown business area alone makes him smile.
When asked what advice he’d give to someone hoping to make an impact on their community, Dan offered simple but powerful words: “You’re going to hit roadblocks. You’re going to have defeats. Don’t ever give up, or say you wish you would have. If you fail, do it again!”
From helping local business to mentoring future leaders, Dan Yahraus leaves behind a legacy of heart, hard work, and humor. His presence will surely be missed, but the impact he’s made will be felt for years to come.
