The Joel Frost Chapter, NSDAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) met October 10, 2024 at 7PM at Hicksville, Ohio. Regular patriotic rituals were opened by regent Ronda Garbin including the pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the National Anthem and a short devotional message.
Messages were read from the President General of the NSDAR and the Ohio State Regent as well as from the committee chair of the publication “National Defender” regarding highlights in history.
The Business meeting began with the minutes of the last meeting, September 12th, presented by Secretary Marilyn Smith followed by the treasurer’s report presented by Sarah Radabaugh.
Committee Reports included Good Citizen Report from Judy Ray. Other committee briefs were presented including ‘American Indian’ – Joseph Lewis Clark, highest ranking indigenous person in Rev. War; ‘Constitution minute’ – Amending the Constitution, a 2/3 vote is required; ‘Women’s Issues’ – Breast and other Cancers, also lost pregnancies Oct 15; ‘Flag minute’ – part of the pledge means having the same rules for everyone.
October 11th, was DAR day of Service and also Friday was ‘wear RED day’ to “Remember Everyone Deployed”
Chapter member Roena Bayes passed away September 18th; she had been an active member in several veteran and patriotic organizations.
A motion was made and approved to make a $100 donation in her memory to the Farmer American Legion Post 137.
Other donations approved during the meeting include $100 toward goods for North Carolina, $100 for Crossnore DAR School Disaster Relief, and the customary President General’s Project of $7.50 per member.
Three Joel Frost members went to the joint meeting with Scout David Williams Chapter on October 4th in Montpelier where OSDAR Northwest District Director Joyce Cambell VanAtter gave a presentation about Chapter revitalization. Highlights and handouts were shared with the group.
The next meeting of the Joel Frost Chapter will be November 14, 7pm at Hicksville, Ohio.
