Defiance Man Killed In Overnight Accident

Defiance – The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle crash involving a commercial straight truck and trailer on Wilhelm Road near McCallister Road in Defiance Township on Monday evening, October 29, 2018 at approximately 8:45 P.M.

A commercial straight truck while pulling a trailer was operating northbound on Wilhelm Road near McCallister Road when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected went off the left side of the roadway, before striking a utility pole, a tree, overturned and caught fire.

The driver of the vehicle, Mr. David J. Nussbaum, 63, of Defiance was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Assisting the Highway Patrol at the crash were the Defiance City Fire and EMS Departments, the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, Defiance County Coroner’s Office, and Toledo Edison.


The crash remains under investigation.
