The Pike-Delta-York Board of Education held their meeting on Wednesday, September 28th.
The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. The Board first moved to approve the minutes from the meeting held on August 17th before moving to recognize a list of students.
Students of the month were Summer Dadisman – 4th grade, Hunter Elton – 8th grade, and Emma Deffenbaugh – 12th grade.
Recognition was also given to the following students for their perfect test scores with the 2022 Spring State Test. Sofia Covell – 5th grade ELA, Brady Kile – 6th grade math, Noah Banks – 7th grade math, Jamison Williams – US Government.
For the Treasurers report, the monthly financial report for August 2022 was approved. The superintendent’s report followed with personnel recommendations that were passed, as well as the following items for consideration which were approved by the board.
A recommendation to declare it impractical to transport Josephine Comers to Monclova Christian Academy.
A transportation in-lieu contract will be issued, and payment will be made at the end of the year to Kyle Comers for transportation.
The Pike-Delta-York FFA Chapter will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to attend the National FFA convention on October 25th-29th.
The recommendation for teachers, that are in their third year of the Resident Educator Program and attempting RESA for the first time in 2022-2023, will be exempt from the OTES evaluation process one time, following the recommendation of Senate Bill 3.
The following contracts were then approved. A contract with New Era Surfacing to complete a track renovation at a cost of $129,100.00 to be paid from the district’s permanent improvement fund.
A contract with H.E.A.T. Total Facility Solutions to install new light poles and lights (convert the stadium to LED lighting) at a cost of $228,375 to be paid from the district’s permanent improvement fund.
The board then entered into executive session at 7:29 p.m. and returned at 7:32 p.m. followed by adjournment at the same time.
