Delta FFA Officers Train For The Year
The newly elected officers traveled to the University of Notre Dame area to hold their annual training and work sessions.
During their time the officers plan out the year, review the calendar, work on committees, develop new processes and procedures, hold team bonding, and work on setting SMART goals personally and for the chapter. They also learned about themselves and their learning styles.
Officers also explored the area and the university. The training theme this year was the Olympics! Officers also worked together to cook different meals.
Delta FFA Serves At Fulton County Ag Hall Of Fame
President Walter Hallett IV represented Delta FFA by attending and being of service to the people who showed up to celebrate the inductees into the 2024 Fulton County Fair Ag Hall of Fame ceremony.
Along with other Fulton County representatives Walter welcomed guests, helped carry plates to tables, served drinks, scooped and served ice cream, and helped clean up after the event.
Thank you to the sponsors who make this event possible including the Fulton County Dairy Producers for donating the milk and ice cream, Emmons’ Farm for the flowers, and Marlene Callendar for designing the arrangements.

Delta FFA Holds Greenhand Night
On the night of August 26th, the local Delta FFA Chapter held a Greenhand Night. This Greenhand Night was an event geared toward the Greenhand members and their parents.
The Chapter wanted to welcome the new students into the chapter and tell them about FFA. They also wanted to inform them what it means to be in FFA not only to our chapter but also to our community.
The Greenhand Night was fun and interactive for those in attendance. Greenhands got to know their officers and the program itself, while also learning new information and how to get involved with the chapter.
The Delta FFA officers Jordinn Heinemann, Abbigail Savage, Gracyn Pelton, and Walter Hallett IV spoke about what all the parents and members could expect to do, learn, and ways to get involved.
The officers wanted to make them feel welcome and get any questions they had answered. The Greenhand Night was not only open to new but also to returning members as well.

Kicking off the school year, the Delta FFA Chapter had a blast at the annual pond party. Students from the chapter joined in on the fun and brought condiments, silverware, food, drinks, desserts, and more.
Students swam in the pond, played on the rafts, and fished. Later, students gathered, and a family style meal was held. Thank you to all who brought items and thank you to the Graham family for being such amazing hosts.

Chapter Partners With Several Local Ag Retailers To Learn From Land Lab
The Delta FFA Chapter and Ag Ed classes have great opportunities each year to farm almost 22 acres of land around the bus garage.
The students are making the decision for all aspects of the year crop. They choose what kind of fitting and plowing to do to prepare the soil. They chose the seeds for the acres and have been able to get all the seeds this year donated by different places.
The committee chose to do test plots to see how different brands of corn performed against each other. Thank you to Chris Wensink (Wensink Seeds), Scott Norden (LG Seeds), Snyder & Timpe Sales & Service (Pioneer Seeds and harvest data collection), Pelton Farms (Beck’s Seeds, planting and harvesting equipment), Davis Farm Services of Delta (spraying the field), Bill Haase (grain truck use), and Pettisville Grain of Delta for helping out with the field. We had a great harvest, and the students learned a lot from the experience.
Members Represent Ohio In Regional Dairy Cattle Handlers CDE
The Big E is “New England’s Great State Fair,” the largest agricultural event on the eastern seaboard and the fifth-largest fair in the nation. The Big E is inclusive of all six New England states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Along with it being the east coast state fair it is also the FFA’s Eastern Region events site. Mackenzie Clapp from the Delta FFA Chapter participated in the Dairy Cattle Handlers CDE (Career Development Event).
She placed 15 out of 22. The Handlers Event consists of students demonstrating their dairy handling skills and learning to work together cooperatively.
The students present animals, set them up to their best advantage, maintain their posture, restrain them effectively, and move them as directed by the ringmaster. Students develop skills such as poise, calmness, and a positive attitude.
Members Help At Fulton County Ag Fest
In September Delta and Pettisville FFA members helped with the County Ag Fest by providing a small animal station. Three Delta members provided birds and explained a little about the poultry industry, live birds, parts, life cycle of hatching an egg, and colored egg breeds.
The county event was put on by the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District. Delta FFA members attending were: Aiden Riegsecker, Ashlynn Tedrow, and Kelsi Willitzer. Thank you to all the sponsors for this great event for the third graders of Fulton County.
