Delta Village Assistant Finance Director Marlena Allwood was named interim finance director and the job description for the position updated during a special meeting of the Delta Village Council Thursday evening.
The actions were initiated by the return of Finance Director Jenna Flores to her former position as an operator with the Water Department (soon to become part of the Public Utilities Department, a combination of the water and wastewater departments).
Village Administrator Chris Frazer nominated Assistant Finance Director Marlena Allwood, and the council voted to approve her as interim finance director in Flores’ stead.
The council also voted to approve updates to the job description for the role. According to Frazer, several changes had been made to the job description during the tenure of ousted administrator Andy Glenn which removed the requirement for the finance director to attend council meetings and any oversight of employees.
“When Mr. Glenn … was hiring a new finance director, he decided to change the job description in a multitude of ways,” Frazer said.
The new description returns to the prior requirements, with the director responsible for overseeing the utilities clerk and assistant finance director (who also serves as tax administrator), the requirement that they attend all council meetings, and that they stand in as clerk of council when the assistant director is unavailable to attend a council meeting.
“We’re going to post the [finance director] job as soon as possible and we’re hoping to have a 30-day waiting period to have candidates who would be interested in the position apply and then take some time to interview candidates and hopefully find someone who can take over the position,” Frazer said.
The finance director is a salaried, overtime-exempt position with a pay range of $55,952 to $78,000.
The council also approved the substitution of Allwood on the village’s bank accounts as well as the removal of Flores from the same.
The next regular meeting of the Delta Village Council will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 401 Main Street in Delta.
