The Delta Village Council approved a pair of measures correcting the temporary 2025 budget and making final appropriations for 2024.
According to Edward Ciecka – who served through the last meeting as the village’s interim village administrator and continues to offer some input – necessary changes to 2024 appropriations were limited, totaling just $3,439.39 across three funds.
Changes to actual amounts in the temporary 2025 budget totaled $26,696, while much more was moved around within the budget itself, including $102,000 that was removed from capital expenses in the general fund.
“$45,000 went into the streets department, into their capital fund,” Ciecka said. “Basically, they’re looking at fixing the roof at the maintenance facility. And then the other $57,000 was moved into Memorial Hall, which is where the village funds its IT.”
Ciecka said the village is starting to look at updating its IT equipment, such as servers. “They probably need to do a little bit more looking at that after what the county just paid, a million and a half,” he said.
The other changes comprised $250 moved into its own line item for concessions, correction of typos where incorrect fund numbers were included, and the only line item increased – roughly $25,000 in underfunded utility expenses.
Both measures were passed on an emergency basis, making them effective immediately.
The next regular meeting of the Delta Village Council will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 401 Main Street in Delta.
