Village Administrator Brad Peebles addressed Delta Village Council at the December 21, 2020 meeting, asking for direction concerning the sale of property to The Open Door. He shared that some of the council members had expressed interest in the village retaining the property for Green Space in the downtown.
He had spoken with Open Door leader and they said that they would like to buy the property with no restrictions concerning the possibility of a future parking lot. Council members expressed their thoughts during the discussion with all of those who spoke leaning toward selling it to Open Door only if they can have the restriction added that states they have to prove the need of parking lot in the future.
Some interest in not selling it, and turning it into Green Space was mentioned, if Open Door does not want to have the restriction on the sale. It was agreed that council will address the situation at the January meeting, to give members time to check out the property and think about it.
Peebles also informed council that there is an individual interested in buying a lot from the town that is located at the corner of Wood and Northwood Streets. He recommended that they put out a minimum bid of $12,000 and take sealed bids for the sale of the property. Following some discussion, Peebles said he will have legislation ready for the next meeting as council likes the idea of selling.
In other business, Council voted to approve the December 7, 2020 minutes. There was no public wishing to address council. Mayor Bob Gilbert stated that the offices will remain closed to the public except for appointments due to COVID. No oral reports were given by Finance, Law Director, Police or committees. Council voted to approve:
- Ordinance 20-35 To increase the water service tap fees for the village of Delta, amending codified ordinances
- Ordinance 20-36 To modify and adjust the sanitary sewer connection fees for the Village of Delta, amending codified ordinances
- Payment of Invoices
The next regular meeting will be held at 5:30 pm on January 4, 2021.
