The grand opening of the Miller Park Disc Golf Course on Thursday, July 17, was met with rave reviews!
Around 30 people gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony and spent the day enjoying the new course, with flying discs soaring through the air from 2:00 p.m. until nearly 10:00 p.m.
Mayor Day delivered a speech about the event during the ribbon cutting. “This day has been a long time coming. Five years ago, Stan Tipton and I began a conversation about the possibility of bringing a disc golf course to Miller Park.”
“We had no idea how many obstacles and delays we would face, including a global pandemic. But today, walking the course and seeing the unique layout that’s been developed made every challenge worth it.
“A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who made this project possible. Stan Tipton and Andy Miller have been instrumental from the start. Kip Pahl, our Village Public Works Superintendent, and his crew did a fantastic job with all the installations.”
“Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles and her team handled all the applications, ordering, and documentation with diligence and care.
“Special thanks to Austin Harvey, who stepped up in countless ways—organizing giveaways and prizes and even providing discs to anyone who needed one.”
“A big shoutout as well to Home Plate Kitchen Ministries and Catering for generously supplying food and drinks for the event.”
“This project was made possible through financial support from NatureWorks, a funding program provided by Ohio Parks and Natural Resources.”
“We also deeply appreciate the Edgerton Development Corporation for donating the property needed for the course.”
“The course itself offers a truly unique experience. It winds through wooded areas, crosses or borders water features, opens into wide, grassy spaces, and concludes at the top of the community sledding hill. It’s designed to challenge experienced players while still being welcoming to beginners.”
The Disc Golf Course is located at 300 Miller Park Drive in Edgerton, Ohio.
