Ohio Governor John Kasich proclaimed the month of January 2015 as School Board Recognition Month in our state. As citizens who serve students and represent their communities, individual school board members face complex and demanding challenges. Ohioans should recognize the vital contributions of these men and women and focus attention on the crucial role these elected public officials play in the education of our students.

School Board members contribute hundreds and hundreds of hours each year leading their districts. Whether crafting policies, hiring top-notch administrators, listening to staff and student concerns, or recognizing outstanding programs, board members always keep their eyes on the prize of student achievement.

Four County Career Center is joining with other districts throughout the state to recognize the important contributions school board members make to their communities. The Career Center is appreciative of their school board members who assure that the school is providing the best career and technical education possible for the students.

Serving on the district’s Board of Education for 2015 are Connie Nicely, Career Center Treasurer; Cindra Keeler, starting her 7th year as a Bryan City Schools board member and her 7th year on the Career Center board; Carol Kleck, starting her 25th year as a Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center board member and her 18th year on the Career Center board; Chris Oberlin, starting her 19th year as a Defiance City School board member and her 18th year on the Career Center board; Nona Liechty, starting her 5th year as a Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center board member and her 5th year on the Career Center board; Marcia Bruns, starting her 6th year as a Napoleon City School board member and her first year on the Career Center board; Tim Meister, Career Center Superintendent; Larry Fruth, starting his 11th year as a Wauseon Exempted Village board member and his 11th year on the Career Center board; Dennis Vetter, starting his 6th year as a Hicksville Exempted Village board member and his 2nd year on the Career Center board; Larry Martin, starting his 19th year as a Montpelier Exempted Village board member and his 5th year on the Career Center board; Ron Crawford, starting his 11th year as a Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center board member and his first year on the Career Center board; and Brian Baker, starting his 20th year as a Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center board member and his 9th year on the Career Center board; Kenneth Esterline, starting his 33rd year as a Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center board member and his 23rd year on the Career Center board.
