BRYAN-Antwerp scored four runs in the second inning and Luke Krouse scattered four hits over seven innings on the mound to lead the Archers to the Division IV district championship.
The big inning started for the Archers with back-to-back singles by Hunter Sproles and Carson Altimus off Montpelier starter Jaxon Richmond.
After a sacrifice by Dylan Hines that moved the runners to second and third, Ethan Lichty hit a grounder to shortstop that was misplayed by Tylor Yahraus allowing Sproles to score for a 1-0 lead.
Jason Geyer knocked in two runs with a single to left field before two straight walks loaded the bases for Antwerp.
Austin Lichty lined out to left for the second out of the inning, but Geyer would score on a passed ball with Krouse at the plate to make it 4-0 at the end of two innings.
Antwerp (18-5) got one more run in the fourth as Ethan Lichty singled, Geyer sacrificed, and Parker Moore had an RBI single to left to make it 5-0.
The Locos put together a threat in their final at-bat as Gavin Wurm would reach on an error and Collin Crisenberry singled to right with one out.
After a strikeout, Blake Altaffer drove in the Locos lone run of the day by reaching base on error by the Antwerp second baseman before Krouse recorded his 10th strikeout of the game to give Antwerp the win.
Wurm was 1-3 with a double for Montpelier while Crisenbery and Ayden Santos had one hit each for the Locos.
Montpelier finishes the season with a record of 20-7.
