Don R. Burgoon (1936 – 2013)

Burgoon Don - pictureDonald R. Burgoon, age 77, of Delta, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning December 18, 2013 at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon. He was born on November 5, 1936 in Liberty Center, OH; one of two children to the late Harold M. Burgoon and Margaret (Heckler) Burgoon. Don was a graduate of Liberty Center High School. On September 15, 1956 he married Patricia Chamberlin. Don worked as a signal foreman for various railroads over his 42 year career including, New York Central, Penn Central and ConRail. After retiring he drove vehicles for Don’s Automotive Group in Wauseon for over 5 years. He was an avid collector of miniature trains and Hot Wheels toy cars. Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat Burgoon; son, Michael Ray (Denise) Burgoon of Delta; daughter, Michele Renee (Larry K. Sieving) Kiess of Fremont; sister, Mary Lou (Bob) Kessler of Liberty Center; grandchildren, Jayme (Jay Marr), Janelle (Don Ballard) Jenna (Anthony) Henrick and Nicole Kiess; ten great grandchildren and many loving friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 5-8 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta. A funeral service celebrating Don’s life will begin at 12 Noon on Friday also at the funeral home. Reverend Joseph Fifer will be officiating. Interment will follow at Raker Cemetery in Delta. Those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the American Heart Association, 15120 Collections Center Drive, Chicago, IL 60693 or a charity of the donor’s choice in his memory.
