Donald C. Richards, age 86, of Delta, passed away January 11, 2017 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, OH. Don was born in Wauseon on September 10, 1930 to the late Raymond Richards and Gertrude (Bechstein) Richards. On March 7, 1964, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Conrad and together shared 46 special years together until her passing on September 29, 2010. Don later married Gloria Underwood on March 6, 2014 and she survives.
Before retiring, Don served many years as a master mechanic with Lathrop Co. He was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church, Grand Rapids Lodge #0289 F&A.M; and a 50 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Some of his fondest hobbies included woodworking and traveling.
Also preceding him in death; his sons, Gary and Jeffery Richards and brothers, Howard, Glenn, Roger and Paul Richards. He is survived by his wife Gloria; daughter, Kay (Glenn) Harshman of Acworth, GA; son, Robert (Brenda) Richards of Dundee, MI; stepsons, Allen (Kim) Underwood and Sam (Kimberly) Underwood; along with several grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Delta United Methodist Church, 101 Northwood Dr., Delta, Ohio 43515; where a funeral service honoring Don’s life will begin at 11:00 AM. Rev. Teresa Wenrick will be officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta. Arrangements are entrusted with Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.
