Donald Hoff (1935-2020)

Donald C. Hoff, age 85, longtime resident of Liberty Center, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on Saturday, September 12, 2020. He was born on August 17, 1935 one of five children to the late Albert W. Hoff and Bessie (Baker) Hoff.

Don was a graduate of Liberty Center High School in 1953 and later married Joanne Fought on September 19, 1959 and she preceded him in death on September 13, 2017. He served his country with the U.S Army from 1961 – 1967. Don worked as a truck driver for over 30 years. Some of his fondest hobbies included fishing, watching football, playing cards and hunting.

Surviving are his daughters, Mechele (Chris) Maier of Swanton and Katherine (Jacob Law) Hoff of Wauseon; sister, Dorothy Merricle of Lima; grandchildren, Abbey (Cody) Keller, Alec (Sara) Maier, Jackson, Logan, Henna and Ian Law and great grandchildren, Gavin Maier and Cara Keller.

Don was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Richard and Wilbur Hoff.

Friends will be received from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta; where a memorial service celebrating Don’s life will begin at 11:00 AM with military rites provided by the Fulton County Honor Guard. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, those attending are to follow CDC guidelines by wearing a facial mask and observe six foot distancing when possible. Pastor Maryann Reymond will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Grand Rapids American Legion Post #232, 12580 S. River Rd, Grand Rapids, Ohio 43522 or the NRA, 11250 Waples Mill Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030 in his memory.
