The Edgerton Board of Education met on March 16th in regular session.
The meeting consisted on the Board approving several new policies added to their handbook.
There was also an approval of a Veterans Honor Wall from Team Fitz Graphics at a cost of $4,770. This will list former students who have served in the military, or police and fire departments. The wall will be displayed inside the foyer of the school.
The board also approved a donation from the Edgerton Area Foundation in the total of $54,579 for the improvements to the track. Meanwhile, track restoration has begun with Perry Excavating flattening and smoothing of the south end of the track. Previously, tree roots had pushed up the track in that area, but it is now level.
In personnel, the Board also non-renewed all of the Basketball and Wrestling coaches following the end of the seasons.
Meanwhile, Principal Kevin Wolfe received a five-year contract for 2020-2025. The contract it for 218 days per year with a starting pay of $91,000 with pay increases of 3%, 2%, 1%, 1%.
The school is still preparing for an evacuation drill on May 8th. This will be different from previous years by having the students bussed to Life Changing Church.
In response to the COVID-19 threat, the school has been closed through April 3rd as of the meeting. With the threat of the shutdown extending until the end of the school year, the district is preparing to finish out the year using Google Classroom.
The school has also begun providing free will lunches for families. The school has been using volunteers from the local churches to help prepare and pass out food. Any donations of either food or money to help keep this program going would be appreciated.
The next meeting of the Edgerton Board of Education will be Monday, April 20th.
