(Bryan, Ohio) April 5, 2021 – Special Olympics of Williams County was able to begin facilitating basketball practices with up to ten athletes and coaches in February when some restrictions were lifted.

However, there were hurdles trying to find a facility because of COVID-19. Thanks to a connection made by Steve Kimpel, an athlete, the Edgerton Knights of Columbus opened their doors to allow practice once a week at no charge.

“Edgerton Knights of Columbus have been very accommodating during this period. This gave some of the players the opportunity to get together and play a game they love,” said Angela Luke, Special Olympics Coordinator.

Bowling and Track seasons are returning to in-person sessions. Bowling is offered to athletes eight and older and sessions will be on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays in April.

Track will be offered to athletes six years of age and older and practices are at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays at Montpelier High School.

Athlete spots are limited due to the Special Olympics Ohio Return to Play Guidelines are in place to keep athletes and families safe.

Sign-up to participate in Bowling or Track in this upcoming season by contacting Angela Luke at 567-210-1020 or email williamscospecialolympics17@gmail.com.
