The Edgerton Park Board Committee met on a snowy Wednesday night, January 8th at 6:15pm. Although it was cold outside, the meeting discussed bright plans ahead for this spring and fall.
Members of the park board in attendance included Camie Hicks, Bill Swank, Chris Sanchez, and Abby Witsaman. Mayor Bob Day, Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, and Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht accompanied them.
There are several ongoing and future projects planned to take place throughout the 2025 year in Edgerton.
Ballfields #1 and #2 at Miller Park are set forth to be complete by April 1st, just in time for the season to begin. After those are finished, #3 and the Pony League field will be next on the agenda.
Fitzcharles shared the plan to leave room in the budget to maintain the fields every year for the safety of the players and the condition of the fields.
New trash cans and grills will also be added to Miller Park and Gerhart Park, as well as the downtown community park.
The new trash cans will replace the concrete trash cans that are currently in place, while the grills are a completely new addition to the parks in town.
The new trash cans are expected to keep animals from digging through them and scattering litter. The grills will be placed around the ballfields so that the community can use them while enjoying a baseball game, having a picnic, or visiting the park.
The Miller Park Community Building is making further progress, going out to bid this spring in order to secure the best pricing.
The building will have a large banquet area with round tables on the inside, a wrap-around patio, three overhead glass doors, a warming-style kitchen, bathrooms, a conference/ meeting room for local business gatherings, union meetings, or training sessions to take place, an outdoor gas firepit, an indoor gas fireplace, air conditioning, and additional seating and space for tents on the outside.
The building is expected to fit around 320 people comfortably on the inside and about 200 on the outside.
Once the construction of the building is finalized, the parking lot will also be redone. The committee and village officers are hoping for the building to be “substantially completed” by November of 2025.
The community building would offer a great space for wedding receptions, reunions, graduation parties, birthday parties, large or small gatherings, and more.

The disc golf course and trail is also nearing completion. The village is working to clear space in the woods located at Miller Park as many of the holes will follow a trail through the wooded area. It is expected to be ready by this spring.
The Edgerton Metals property is anticipated to be released for development by June 30, 2025.
In this space, the village is looking at potentially putting in a few sporting facilities, such as volleyball, basketball, pickleball, and/or tennis courts in this space sometime in the future.
Along with the other additions to Miller Park, various benches, trash cans, and dog stations will be placed around the park.
As spring approaches, so do many projects expected to be completed or nearing completion in the Village of Edgerton for the community to enjoy.
