EDGERTON VILLAGE COUNCIL: Fire Contracts Among Items Approved By Council

The Edgerton Village Council met on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024 at 5:30 pm.

Mayor Day began the meeting with The Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. Roll Call got underway with council members Jason Gruver, Lance Bowsher, Leslie VanAusdale, Pam Wampler, Sharon Blinzler, Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht, Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, while Administrative Assistant Amanda Knecht was absent.

Also in attendance were a few members from the community. Next up was the approval of the meeting minutes from November 6th. VanAusdale motioned to approve, seconded by Bowsher.

Mayor Day said that the village has started putting up Christmas decorations and that the leaf collection is going well.

Day also said the planning is going well for the Lighted Santa Parade on Saturday, November 30th at 6 pm and it will start at Town Hall and end at Downtown Park.

Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht passed out the bills and receipts for the council to review. Motion to pay the bills was made by Gruver and seconded by VanAusdale.

Knecht and Fitzcharles presented a list of motions to the council. Motion to consider the approval of reclassification of street department employee Dakota Burke out of a six-month probationary period. Motion to approve by Bowsher and seconded by Gruver.

Motion to consider the approval of reclassification of Police department employee Jerry Ground to end probationary period. Motion to approve by Gruver and seconded by VanAusdale.

Motion to consider the approval of reclassification of Fire Department Employee Cody Carlisle to end his probationary period.

Motion to approve by Wallace and seconded by Gruver. Motion to consider the approval of the resignation of junior firefighter Adam Gruver. Motion to approve by Wallace and seconded by Wampler.

Motion to consider the approval of fire contract for St Joseph Township and Milford Township effective January 1st, 2025- December 31st, 2027.

Motions to approve by VanAusdale and seconded by Wallace. Motion to consider the approval of change order #2 and final for the Oak Street resurfacing project. Motion to approve by Bowsher and seconded by Wallace.

The last of the motions is to consider the approval of the 2025 council assignments holiday schedule and payroll periods for 2025. Motion to approved by Bowsher and seconded by Wallace.

For Village of Edgerton Ordinance No. 1145 – an ordinance providing for a supplement to the 2024 annual appropriations this was approved on a motion by VanAusdale and seconded by Gruver. Knecht commented she would forward the information to the county auditor.

For the first reading of the Village of Edgerton Ordinance No. 1146 – an ordinance establishing the permanent appropriations for 2025. Motion to approved by Gruver and seconded by Wallace.

For the first reading of the Village of Edgerton Ordinance No. 1147 – an ordinance establishing salaries and wages for the Village of Edgerton employees. Motion to approve by Bowsher and seconded by VanAusdale.

For council discussion, Bowsher wished everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving and Blinzler mentioned a pothole that has had complaints made by residents.

The village council meeting adjourned at 6:05 pm. The motion to adjourn was made by VanAusdale and seconded by Wampler. The next village council meeting is Wednesday, December 4th at 5:30 pm.
