The Edgerton Village Council met at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21. Present were councilors Pam Wampler, Leslie VanAusdale, Jason Gruver, Chuck Wallace, Sharon Blinzler, and Lance Bowsher, as were Mayor Robert Day, Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht, and Administrative Assistant Amanda Knecht.

After the pledge of allegiance and a prayer, they welcomed Avery Perez, who is known for his Eagle Scout project wherein he put numbers on unmarked residences to help first responders.

Recently, Perez had asked council if he may design a flag for the village and came in to present his two designs.

Questions detailing the feasibility of the project with regards to cost and production of the flag.

Mayor Day then shared that the fundraiser held at Cup of Joy for the Spanish Club’s 2025 trip was fun to attend, with a “good time had by all.”

Administrator Fitzcharles shared that all projects that have been started so far this year are progressing well, with everything on schedule.

Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht shared the credit card policy so that it could be signed and processed, sharing that the bills will need to be paid after motion was passed approving payment for the Brownfield Remediation project.

A resignation was accepted from a village intern as he leaves for an engineering position, with administration sharing that while they are sad to see him go, they are happy to see him moving on to learn additional skills, with the mayor sharing that the interns this year have “both been very good workers.”

It was then that a motion was made to pay an invoice for the Brownfield Remediation project, after which the bills were approved for payment.

The police chief shared the progress of the new police vehicle and reimbursements on two vests, as well as that the construction has begun on the range pavilion at the gun range to shelter training officers, with plans to add a storage shed in the works.

Councilor Wallace asked if there would be another sidewalk meeting, with Fitzcharles sharing that the new sidewalk will be installed on one side of the road, with lots of time yet for the public to participate in the planning process.

Mayor Day shared that Tree Commission dates have been solidified, with park board meetings still being decided.

With nothing further to address, the Edgerton Village Council voted to adjourn at 5:48 p.m., set to meet next March 6, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.
